The aim of the course is to provide a systematic overview of all the relevant basic sciences, including anatomy, physiology and pathology, applied to the practice of contemporary cardiothoracic surgery. This year’s course has undergone a substantial revision, with the specific aim of covering all the important aspects of applied basic sciences that are asked within the confines of the cardiothoracic surgery examination. In particular, candidates will each undergo between 4 – 8 vivas in preparation for their FRCS (C-Th) examination.
