Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®)

ATLS is a three-day course with the aim to teach a simple systematic approach to the management of trauma patients through interactive tutorials, skills teaching and simulated patient management scenarios.

Recommended during first or second year of specialist training. ST1-2

It’s the responsibility of the course delegate to ensure that they fall within the relevant criteria for the course as detailed above. If we discover that your experience is below the required level before or at any time during the course, the College reserves the right to withdraw you from the course without compensation.

Content

The ATLS® course was developed by the American College of Surgeons nearly 30 years ago and has now been adopted in over 40 countries worldwide. It teaches a safe reliable method for immediate management of the injured trauma patient.

Format

Highly interactive course combining lectures, discussions, interactive tutorials, skills teaching and simulated patient management scenarios (moulage).

There are continual assessments throughout the course.

Candidates must complete a pre-course MCQ.

Duration

3 days
