Patient Safety in Theatre Teams – A Practical Approach to Human Factors

This new multi-professional course has been specifically designed for the theatre team which would ideally comprise of a surgeon, an anaesthetist, scrub nurse and ODP. Utilising our state of art facilities, which include a team skills training theatre set up to create a realistic environment, the course focuses on the non-technical skills, or human factors, of the team in order to maximise the safety of patients and the clinical success of operations. Using advanced patient simulator mannequins and multimedia facilities, the course is mostly practical with each team being involved in a number of theatre based scenarios. Briefing and debriefing sessions are designed to help each individual team member work more effectively as part of a team.

Fee

Thanks to a generous donation by the George Drexler Trust we are able to offer a discount on the course fee where the surgeon member is a member or fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England. The discounted fee is £1200 per team of four members; the normal fee is £2000 per team.

We encourage payment by trusts rather than by the individual team members. However, where this is not the case, the fee needs to be paid by a single credit/debit card payment or cheque.
