Patient Safety in Theatre Teams – A Practical Approach to Human Factors
This new multi – professional course has been specifically designed for the theatre team and would ideally comprise of a surgeon, an anaesthetist, scrub nurse and ODP. Utilising the newly opened facilities, which include a team skills training theatre, the course focuses on the non – technical skills, or human factors, of the team in order to maximise the safety of patients and the clinical success of operations. By using simulated mannequins and multimedia facilities, the course will be largely practical with each team being involved in a number of theatre – based scenarios and the feedback designed to help each individual team member work more effectively with their colleagues and as a team.
