Ruptured Endovascular Aneurysm Repair – Team Training

Making decisions and applying evidence into practice in emergency situations is fraught with difficulty, especially when patient management involves a variety of clinical professionals often based in different areas of the hospital. A series of critical decisions need to be made and communicated to achieve a good outcome. REVAR – Team Training is a new course developed and delivered by a multi-professional faculty offering a unique opportunity for the multidisciplinary team to rehearse patient care pathway from the time of presentation until definitive intervention. Teams attending this course will be encouraged to apply the key learning points to influence patient care pathway in their own institution in order to enhance patient safety and outcome.

Application form
Fee: £1995 per team of 7 (Surgeon, Radiologist, Anaesthetist, Theatre Nurse, ODP, Radiographer, Surgical Assistant). Please note that this is a team application and we will only accept one payment for the full amount.

Level

Open to vascular surgical teams of seven members each: surgeon, radiologist, anaesthetist, theatre nurse, ODP, radiographer, surgical assistant.

It's the responsibility of the course delegate to ensure that they fall within the relevant criteria for the course as detailed above. If we discover that your experience is below the required level before or at any time during the course, the College reserves the right to withdraw you from the course without compensation.

Content

The course aims to promote the development of an effective multidisciplinary team for the endovascular management of aortic emergencies in order to improve safety and outcome.

At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify where improvements can be made to the patient pathway in relation to the management of ruptured AAA
  • Analyse the critical decision making points that influence patient management and evidence based practice
  • Establish the contribution of human factors, effective leadership and team working to ensuring best practice in patient care
