Days One and Two - Open Surgery

  • Moderate and difficult access bowel
  • Anastomoses
  • Dealing with size discrepancy
  • Gastrectomy, oesophageal and rectal anastomoses
  • Stapled anastomoses and stomas

Day Three - Vascular Surgery

  • Needle and suture-handling techniques
  • Arteriotomy
  • Vein patching
  • Inlay parachute vascular anastomoses

Day Four - Minimal Access Surgery

  • Principles of safe laparoscopic surgery
  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
  • Operative cholangiography
  • Closure of port sites

Format

  • Practical skills teaching
  • Tutor to participant ratio of 1:4
  • Supported by tutorials, videos and discussion sessions
