Donate your body to medical science

We are very grateful to all those thinking about bequeathing their bodies for medical education and training. People who donate their body contribute in an important way to training and such donations are highly valued by the surgical profession. Your generous action will be greatly appreciated and will benefit society for generations to come.

Bequests to The Royal College of Surgeons of England are dealt with centrally at the London Anatomy Office situated at St. George's Hospital Medical School. The London Anatomy Office acts on behalf of all the medical schools in the London area.

All such donations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are regulated by the Human Tissue Act (2004), which is, in turn, overseen by the Human Tissue Authority, a newly constituted public body responsible to the public and answerable to the Government.

The Human Tissue Act regulates the storage and use of human organs and tissue from the living, and the removal, storage and use of tissue and organs from the deceased.

Professor Vishy Mahadevan from The Royal College of Surgeons of England will willingly answer any queries from individuals wishing to donate their remains to the College.
