Chair: Dr D Gould
The Advisory Committee for Community Dentistry (ACCD) meets under the aegis of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and has a key role in helping to develop and coordinate initiatives associated with postgraduate education and training in the Community Dental Service. Other areas of activity would be associated with career development pathways, quality issues and clinical governance and liasing with the Joint Advisory Committee for Special Care Dentistry (JACSCD).
It must be emphasised that the role and remit of the ACCD is wide while the JACSCD is leading initiatives associated with the creation of the specialty in Special Care Dentistry. ACCD is also responsible for running study days at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. These study days, which are held annually, have been a great success and well attended.
