Higher Specialist Training Documents and Curricula

This page contains subject by subject links to all of the Faculty of Dental Surgery documents and publications available on this website.

The following documents relate to higher specialist training in the dental specialties in the UK. At present dental specialty training is undergoing a period of transition and modernisation and some of the documents may no longer apply. As new documents become available we will publish them.

Those looking for an overview can view the document produced by the UK Committee of Postgraduate Dental Deans and Directors (aka COPDEND) entitled A Reference Guide For Postgraduate Dental Specialty Training In The UK (October 2009, aka The Dental Gold Guide) which is available from the COPDEND website.

Those starting training after 01 September 2010 require the new curriculum available from the General Dental Council's website. Those who commenced training before 01 September 2010 require the curriculum below:

Please note that specialist training programmes in AACOMS are no longer available; those who wish to pursue a similar route should refer to the section for Oral Surgery. This information remains on the website for the benefit of existing trainees in AACOMS programmes.
