Held by the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK). The syllabus for the MJDF is defined in A Curriculum for UK Dental Foundation Training.
The exam consists of:
- Part 1 may be taken during the first year after graduation and will be in the form of a written paper containing multiple choice questions (MCQs) and multiple short answer questions.
- Part 2 during the second year is in the form of an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and structured clinical reasoning (SCR) exercise.
There is no requirement for a period of training in an approved post.
