Audit Commission

An independent body responsible for national research on public sector delivery performance.

Department of Health Statistics, Healthcare

Department of Health Statistics for hospital attendences, waiting lists and times, the number of available or occupied beds, in-patient care, imaging and radiodiagnostics examinations, the supporting facilities for each NHS Trust in England, and much more.

Health-EU Portal

The official public health portal from the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General. It aims to provide European citizens with information on public health issues and policies relevant to them.

HES online

A source of data on the care received by inpatients and outpatients at NHS hospitals.

ICD 10 codes

Tabular List of inclusions and four-character subcategories of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision Version for 2003. An English version provided by the Deutsches Institut für Medizinische Dokumentation und Information.

Information Services Division Scotland (ISD)

The NHS Scotland's source of health data.

National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD)

NCEPOD collects details of deaths occurring in hospital within 30 days of a surgical procedure. The data comes from hospitals throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland but not Scotland.

NHS Data Dictionary

This is produced by the NHS Data Model and Dictionary Service and contains the nationally agreed data standards.

Co-ordinates the collection and sharing of data about health and social care to ensure it becomes more streamlined and efficient.

Scottish Audit of Surgical Mortality (SASM)

Deaths that occur in hospital under the care of a surgeon in Scotland, whether an operation has taken place or not.
