Commenting on the 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review Bernard Ribeiro, President, RCS said,
“The announcement of the next three years of spending on the NHS fails to mention investing in the future generation of surgeons. During the last period of financial crisis in the NHS training budgets were raided. The College is concerned that this does not happen again and would wish to see these budgets ring fenced. The College would like assurance from the government that it will invest in training and implement Sir John Tooke's recommendations to allow the future generation of surgeons a proper career structure."
