Churchill's Dentures

The teeth that saved the world?

An online exhibition about Winston Churchill's dentures, worn during the Second World War. Churchill's dentures were made by the dentist Wilfred Fish and his dental technician Derek Cudlipp. This denture was one of the spares kept by Cudlipp in case of emergency. The Hunterian Museum are grateful to Mr Derek Cudlipp and family for the gift of the denture, and to Mr Barry Hemphill for his help in arranging the gift and supplying information for this exhibition.

The amazing story of Churchill's denture

This denture was worn by Winston Churchill during the Second World War. Its size belies its importance: Churchill relied on his false teeth to maintain his distinctive public speaking style.
