Meet Mr King, the Georgian Surgeon
Find out about surgery in an age when there was no anaesthetic, antibiotics or even hygiene. Mr King will explain how the surgical instruments of the time were used and how injuries were treated two hundred and fifty years ago.

A Young Person’s Guide to the Hunterian
Why might Jonathan Wild have had ‘his leg pulled’? How many tails does this lizard have? What went on in John Hunter’s house? Have all these questions and more answered on our family friendly tours.
Ages 7-14. No adults to attend without children accompanying them, with a maximum of 2 adults per family.
Free but limited numbers so names will be taken 30 minutes prior to the start of each tour.

Get up close and personal with the skulls and teeth from the odontological handling collection at one of these special handling workshops.

Disease Detectives: A hands-on family workshop
How do doctors identify disease and work out the best treatment for common illnesses? Working with real pathologists you will be able to make your own microscope slides, encounter some larger-than-life disease-causing microbes, examine specimens and become a ‘disease detective’!
Organised in collaboration with the Royal College of Pathologists.
Suitable for families with children aged 10+. All children must be accompanied.
