Due to refurbishment work, access to the Hunterian Museum will be through the Nuffield College entrance between the above dates. The Nuffield College entrance is immediately to the left of the main College entrance. Please follow the signs in front of the main College building. Access for people with disabilities is through the same entrance, using either the stairs or the accessible lift.

Opening times
The Hunterian Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free and the museum is open to all.

Group bookings
All groups must book in advance. Admission is free. A donation of £3 per person is encouraged.

Guided tours and gallery talks
There is a free curator led guided tour every Wednesday at 1pm. The tour is open to everyone but places are limited to 25 people and advance booking is recommended.
Talk of the day
Museum volunteers regularly deliver free talks in the Hunterian Museum. These cover a wide range of subjects relating to the museum collections and the history of surgery. They include:
- Anatomy of A Hanging by Mr Richard Pusey, FRCS
- A night with Venus, a lifetime with Mercury by Mr Tim Guerrier, FRCS
- The Wretched Child in Hunter's Time by Professor Lewis Spitz, FRCS

The museum cannot guarantee that a specific talk will be available on the day of your visit so please phone the museum before you travel to find out what is on that day. Call 020 7869 6560.
Curator led tours for groups
Tours of the museum can be booked for up to 30 people:
- An introductory tour lasts 30 minutes and is £100 plus VAT.
- A specialised tour lasts 45 minutes and is £130 plus VAT.
- Tours for schools are free, but donations are encouraged (£3 per person)
- Tours for FE/HE groups are 25% discount (£75 or £97.50) plus VAT.
Venue hire
The museum is available to hire for evening receptions in conjunction with the other facilities on offer in the College. For more information please contact the Facilities department on 020 7869 6702 or visit the conference facilities section.
The MacRae Gallery can be reserved for teaching sessions, practical demonstrations or workshops, as well as seminars and small symposia. The room is suitable for away days, staff training workshops, business development meetings and team building activities.
The MacRae Gallery is available to hire from 8.30am to 6pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The cost is £350 per day. The gallery can be hired on its own and in conjunction with other facilities across the College.
This includes a powerpoint projector, microscopes, measuring and handling equipment. Bench space can also be reserved for up to four people. Please contact the museum on 020 7869 6560 for more information.
