The Hunterian Museum has received a Commendation for Digital Access onsite by the UK Jodi Awards 2010, as part of a collaborative UK Medical Collections Group (UKMCG) project called Medicine at the Movies. The project encouraged adults from under-represented audiences to develop skills and knowledge to embrace new technology.
The Hunterian Museum worked with a group of older adult learners from the Mary Ward Centre to produce a film called Encounters: 10 words to John Hunter, capturing some of the fascinating specimens on display - including Winston Churchill’s dentures and a two-tailed lizard - on handheld digital cameras.
