John Black, President of The Royal College of Surgeons said:
“The Royal College of Surgeons of England welcomes the new Government’s commitment to introducing medical revalidation.
Revalidation is something that patients quite rightly expect their doctors to undertake and it is imperative that the process is simple, rigorous and does not detract from patient care.
The current pilots to our mind have been set up in a hurry and do not adequately reflect the speciality of the doctors involved. We welcome the intention to extend the pilots by a further year which we believe will enable the standards for surgery to be tested.”
