The Royal College of Surgeons responds to the Patients Association FOI story on access to elective surgery.
John Black, President of the Royal College of Surgeons, said:
“It’s worrying to hear that hundreds of patients are reporting problems accessing routine surgery, or having to wait longer for it. Patients must be seen on clinical need, rather than a financial basis. Any cost savings this may bring in the short term will be negated as these patients present with more serious conditions further down the line.”
