“The Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England supports the outcome of the Independent Review of Dentistry by Professor Jimmy Steele.
While we recognise that much of NHS dentistry is outstanding we are delighted to see that Professor Steele has made recommendations to improve continuity of care for dental patients. This is vital if we are to continue improving oral healthcare in the UK through preventative measures.
The Faculty also support the concept of strong clinical engagement in primary care trusts who purchase primary and secondary dental care.
Professor Steele has identified that NHS dental practices are not centrally connected by computer to other health providers and we agree that this is urgently required.”
