Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the journals online please read the points below:
If you are not a member, fellow or affiliate of the College you must pay to view the journals. For subscription rates and to set up online access go to the Portland Press website. You will then be able to access the journals by going directly to the IngentaConnect website from here. Note you can also buy individual articles using the pay per view service.
Fellows and members of the College must access the journals through the members' area of the College website. By typing in your Athens username and password at this stage, your free access to the journals is authorised and you should then be able to link to the College-branded Ingenta pages without any problem. Affiliates must enter through the affiliates' area.
By following the links to the online journals you will arrive at the College-branded Ingenta site. Click on the issue you wish to view. This will take you to the contents list. Click the page numbers on the right-hand side.
You will now be at the Document Request page, displaying the title and abstract and reference links. Choose from the radio buttons the format you wish to view the article in, and click Request Document. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader (for PDFs) you can download it for free by clicking on the icons at the bottom of the page.
If you reach this Document Request page but have a box requesting a username and password instead of the format selection box, don't re-enter your Athens password. Instead, come right back out to the College homepage and try entering through the members' or affiliates' area again. If you are still unable to access the College-branded online journals via the route described above then it is recommended that you try the alternative route of reading the journals through Ovid Online. Details of how to access this service can be found on the accessing electronic journals page.
If you are still experiencing difficulties, please email annals@rcseng.ac.uk.
