The online journals and IngentaConnect

You can get online access to current and back issues of both the Annals of The Royal College of Surgeons and its supplement, the Bulletin of The Royal College of Surgeons, via IngentaConnect.

Features of the online journals include:

  • cross-journal searching through combinations of authors, article titles and abstract keywords;
  • document-to-document reference linking;
  • active reference links to major abstracting and indexing services;
  • multi-format delivery options; and
  • Table of Contents (TOC) email alerting service.

    Table of Contents

    Ingenta offer a Table of Contents (TOC) alerting service, which emails you the TOC for the current issue.

    Visit IngentaConnect for more details and instructions on how to activate this service.

    Indexes

    You can view indexes for the Bulletin via a downloadable PDF. To read these, you will need a PDF reader - one can be downloaded here.

    Troubleshooting

    If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the journals online please read the points below:

    By following the links to the online journals you will arrive at the College-branded Ingenta site. Click on the issue you wish to view. This will take you to the contents list. Click the page numbers on the right-hand side.

    You will now be at the Document Request page, displaying the title and abstract and reference links. Choose from the radio buttons the format you wish to view the article in, and click Request Document. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader you can download it for free by clicking on the icon at the bottom of the page.

    If you reach this Document Request page but have a box requesting a username and password instead of the format selection box, do not re-enter your Athens password. Instead, come right back out to the College homepage and try entering through the members' or affiliates' area again.

    If you are still unable to access the College-branded online journals via the route described above then it is recommended that you try the alternative route of reading the journals through Ovid Online. Details of how to access this service can be found on the accessing electronic journals page.

    If you are still experiencing difficulties, please email bulletin@rcseng.ac.uk.
