STEP® Core (Surgical Training Education Programme)

NEW!  STEP® Core now available!

A blended distance learning programme to support surgical trainees in CT 1-2. Flexibly structured so that learning can be tailored to match surgical training posts. Developed in line with the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme  and to help prepare for the Intercollegiate MRCS examination (IMRCS).

The STEP® Core programme - What you get:

eSTEP® Core website

Includes clinical cases with discussion, a bank of MCQs and access to reference materials from the modules appropriate for the IMRCS. It also acts as a STEP® community, providing opportunities for peer discussions on the forum.

STEP® Core events

Tailor made events for STEP® Core trainees.

Giving trainees the opportunity to get the most out of their surgical training, information about the IMRCS as well as assisting trainees in choosing their specialty post IMRCS training.

  • The Human Body in Disease
  • Surgical Skills and Procedures
  • Special Topics

Format

Distance learning study for the Intercollegiate MRCS examination with on-line support, plus two STEP® Core events at the College.

Duration

Flexible, but we recommend 20 months with an average of 15 hours study per week. Attendance at one STEP® Core event will be within the recommended 20 months of the programme.

Fees

Full Fee - £550

Discounted Fee for STEP® Foundation enrollees - £500. 

Organisations are welcome to purchase bulk sets of STEP® Core on behalf of their trainees at a discount rate of up to 25%.  For further details contact the STEP® office (see below).
