Over many years, fellows of the College have extended the frontiers of surgery through clinical research and the development of new operative techniques.
Our Research Department is responsible for administering the College's Research Fellowship scheme and other awards to support surgeons whose research goal is to maintain and enhance patient care.
In the last 20 years, the College - through our Research Fellowship Scheme - has committed more than £25 million to support over 600 individual trainee surgeons working in university departments and hospitals throughout the UK and abroad.
We need to continue to raise money to fund the fellowships of the future. The RCS award 25-30 annually however, the number and quality of applicants continues to rise and we need the resources to support them.
