Frequently Asked Questions

This is a list of FAQ's that people might ask the research department about the fellowships and grants.

Who is eligible to apply for the research fellowships offered by the College?

If you are a fellow or member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in a training post or an SHO who has passed the MCQ papers and will sit the final parts of the MRCS(Eng) examination, you are eligible to apply.

If I sat Part 1 of my MRCS at the English College but took my final exams at the Edinburgh/Glasgow/Irish Colleges - am I eligible?

No, unfortunately applicants must have sat and passed their final MRCS exam at the English College. Candidates who re-sit and pass their MRCS at English College are eligible to apply.

Does the College offer research fellowships in specific specialties?

The College is continually seeking funds to support new fellowships and often works in collaboration with charities and surgical specialty associations to offer specialty fellowships. These are advertised throughout the year and we suggest that you check the website on a regular basis.
