RCS Elective Prize in Surgery

The Preiskel Prize is an award of up to £500 for clinical students wishing to pursue a career in surgery and planning to undertake an elective in surgery in the ‘developing world' in 2012/2013.

Closing date: Friday 31 August 2012

Eligibility

Clinical students at a UK medical school who are Affiliates of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and are wishing to pursue a career in surgery, and planning to undertake their elective attachment in surgery in the ‘developing world' during the 2012/2013 academic year (July 2012 to August 2013), are eligible to apply.

Become an Affiliate

Each award is worth up to £500 and at least three will be awarded.

How to apply:

There are no application forms or further details. Those students wishing to apply should send six copies of the following:

  • A copy of their CV
  • An A4 typed sheet detailing their project and what they hope to achieve
  • A letter of support from a consultant surgeon or dean of their medical school
  • A letter of support from the consultant surgeon where the elective attachment will be undertaken confirming supervision of the project
