Ovid MEDLINE, Embase and HMIC

Using the Ovid platform, these databases allow you to conduct systematic searches across numerous journals and cross-search MEDLINE, Embase and HMIC, simultaneously or separately, to facilitate ongoing research and evidence-based practice. Access full text (where available) using the green “FULL TEXT@RCS ENGLAND” button.

  • Ovid MEDLINE contains 16 million bibliographic citations from over 5,000 biomedical journals dating back to 1946.
  • Embase is a major biomedical and pharmaceutical database indexing over 3,500 international journals.
  • HMIC: the Health Management Information Consortium database is a compilation of data from two sources, the UK Department of Health’s Library and Information Services and King’s Fund Information and Library Service.

Through Ovid, you can also access the Annals and the Bulletin via the ‘Your Journals@Ovid’ option. This allows you to search the full text of the College Annals and Bulletin.
