Event Overview

The ATLS® UK Steering Group and the Royal College of Surgeons are pleased to invite you to ATLS® National Day held in the Great Hall, University of Birmingham on Thursday, 5 March 2020.

The conference will focus on the tenth edition of ATLS®, lessons learned and potential improvements, including a discussion about the four-stage model for teaching psychomotor skills.

Featuring

  • Evidence based presentation on the cervical spine protection (hot topic!) – Joakim Jorgensen, Consultant Trauma and Vascular Surgeon and Chair of ATLS® Norway and ATLS® European Association.
  • Concussion: advances in diagnosis and treatment – Professor Tony Belli, Consultant Neurosurgeon and Professor of Trauma Neurosurgery at the University of Birmingham.
  • The patient’s journey to recovery from a severe trauma. A science communicator who suffered a traumatic brain injury and documented his recovery will share his experience and the massive impact of the injury on his life.
  • Dedicated Q&A session for co-ordinators.

A full programme is available here.

Who should attend?

A minimum of one co-ordinator and the lead ATLS® Course Director from each centre. If the lead Course Director is unable to attend they may designate a senior member of ATLS® faculty to attend on their behalf. We would encourage as many instructors as possible to attend the National Day but if you cannot attend in person you will be able to watch the live streaming of the event. Please book a livestream ticket if you would like to be sent the link to watch live.

Please note this event is for ATLS® co-ordinators and faculty who have been issued with a booking code to access tickets. If you think you are eligible but do not have the code please email education@rcseng.ac.uk and we will be able to forward the access code.

Although we have chosen a large venue space is limited so please book early to guarantee your place.

The day is free to all attendees but you need to book your place in advance. To ensure that we have maximum attendance, please contact us if you are no longer able to come so that your place can be released.
