Working with the College to strengthen healthcare systems and improve access to safe surgical and dental care internationally can be extremely rewarding. Whether you’re helping to develop and deliver programmes aimed at building surgical capacity, mentoring surgeons in low and middle-income countries, providing guidance as a Country Advisor or establishing collaborations with our overseas partners, a commitment to addressing some of the most critical global health challenges through education, training, mentorship, advocacy and partnership will make a real difference to the College’s global agenda and the lives of some of the world’s most underserved populations.
Humanitarian Surgery
Humanitarian Surgery Volunteers
The College is working with partners to establish a database of volunteers with experience of working in conflict settings or responding to humanitarian disasters.
This experience may involve training and mentorship (in-person and remote), participating in humanitarian missions to deliver surgical care, or providing clinical advice and guidance to local teams.

International Surgical Training Programme (ISTP)
Specialty Clinical Lead
ISTP is a clinical fellowship programme that provides international medical graduates with an opportunity to undertake specialty and subspecialty training in the UK for up to two years.
Specialty Clinical Leads help shape the programme, participate in interviews, conduct appraisals and provide guidance to programme fellows.

Global governance and representation
We are creating a network of advisors to represent our overseas members and shape our global engagement activities. Our approach is designed to recognise the value and contribution of our internationally diverse membership base, and we warmly welcome expressions of interest for the following roles:
Global Surgical Advisors
Global Surgical Advisors act as the College’s overseas regional representatives and provide a strategic voice for international members. We are seeking to appoint advisors for the following regions:
- Americas
- Europe
- Southeast Asia
Applicants do not necessarily need to be based in the region that they wish to represent but they must demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of the region, as well as have established networks. Country Advisors
Country Advisors represent and advise the College and act as key points of contact for members at country level.
Applicants do not necessarily need to be based in the country that they wish to represent but they must demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of the country, as well as have established in-country networks and contacts.
