Women in Surgery host two national events every year to support the membership. Events run approximately every 6-9 months and aim to support and enable women in surgery. Our events are open to all but we do encourage those interested in WinS and the surrounding issues to join the network.
The Senior Women’s Day is an interactive event for Consultant and SAS members which looks to support the challenges faced by those who may have an established surgical career but wish to expand their portfolios, it explores issues pertinent to this group and discusses ways to improve support and opportunities for the wider membership.
The Women in Surgery Conference is our flagship event which brings together individuals from the whole membership and looks at big topics such as leadership and excellence while providing opportunities to network and attend workshops on a variety of topics.
- The future of women in surgery: Leading the surgical profession - Friday 6 October 2017 in Manchester
We will be holding a WinS event for all career grades in Spring 2018. More details will be announced in due course.
The Women in Surgery team encourage members to organise local events to support current and future women in surgery.
If you are interested in organising a local event please email us to see how we can help support you.
In 2016 we held two conferences:
- Women in Surgery: Everyday excellence, a confident future for women in surgery
- Senior Women in Surgery: Confidence, excellence, feminism - not dirty words
You can find more information and download the slides from these events on our previous events page.
