Advanced Arthroscopic Knee

Taught by internationally recognised experts, this two-day course focuses on the practical procedures involved in operating on sports injuries of the knee.

You will have a unique opportunity to practice arthroscopic techniques using unembalmed cadavers, learning a wide range of different surgical procedures.

This course would be very relevant for trainees and consultants with a particular interest in sports surgery but would also be applicable to all orthopaedic trainees and consultants.

Suitability

This course is suitable for: ST6-8 and consultants and SAS grades at an equivalent level.

Learning Outcomes

 After attending this course, you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the stages within a range of arthroscopic and other soft tissue knee procedures
  • Perform arthroscopic ligament reconstruction and meniscus procedures
  • Demonstrate refined skills in correcting patella instability
  • Demonstrate your understanding of the correct procedures for treatment of articular cartilage defects
  • Discuss technical difficulties and complications during knee surgery 
 

Format

You will take part in a range of practical workstation sessions, using unembalmed cadavers to practice arthroscopic techniques on the knee. 

You will also build up knowledge via short presentations from expert faculty, plus group discussions.
