MJDF Part 1
The Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England are happy to announce that the autumn MJDF Part 1 examination will now be delivered remotely.
This means that candidates will be able to sit the examination online from their own homes, please see our announcement for full details.
The MJDF consists of Part 1 and Part 2 exams. Candidates will normally be allowed a maximum of five years in which to complete all parts, but will need to pass Part 1 before progressing to Part 2. Part 1 consists of 150 Single Best Answer (SBA) questions within a single three-hour paper.
To be eligible to enter the MJDF exam, all candidates must:
- possess a primary dental qualification acceptable to the boards of the dental faculties at The Royal College of Surgeons of England, and should normally be registered to practise dentistry in their country of residence;
- have passed Parts 1 and 2 of the exam in accordance with the requirements set out in section 3 of these regulations;
- have complied with all of the exam regulations.
Part 1 consists of one paper assessing knowledge and applied knowledge. This includes 150 Single Best Answer (SBA) questions within a single three-hour paper. The questions carry equal marks. The exam is not negatively marked and there are no trick questions.

There are currently no dates available for this exam
n.b. We are currently unable to deliver the examination remotely in the UAE and the exam will run under standard conditions.
Candidates required to provide their Primary Dental Qualifcation and who are unable to access attestation services due to COVID-19 restrictions may provide these documents via email. Please send scanned copies of your original documents to MJDF@rcseng.ac.uk.
