We are happy to answer any questions about what we hold in the archives and to undertake catalogue and index searches for you. Please email us at archives@rcseng.ac.uk We aim to respond to all emails within ten working days.
We can supply single high resolution images for publication, for which we will charge a reproduction fee. We regret that we are unable to undertake research or provide copies of multiple documents in the collections. We can refer you to a independent professional research assistant who may be able to carry out research and photography for you.
Archives Research Room Service
The Library & Archives Research Room is open to anyone wishing to use the archive collections. Our opening hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 10 am to 4.30 pm. Booking is essential. We can accommodate two researchers per day so sometimes it may not possible to make appointments on the day/s requested and we will offer alternative dates.
To book a Research Room appointment, please email the catalogue references of up to ten files or items you would like to consult to archives@rcseng.ac.uk and allow at least five working days to arrange your visit so we can ensure material is available.
You can search our online catalogue at http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/search/simple . Please use the hierarchy browser at the bottom of the catalogue screen to select File or Item level records to request. Fonds, Sub-Fonds and Series level catalogue descriptions are created by our archivists to organise the documents and do not represent physical documents to request.
