Postgraduate Training (JCPTD)
The Joint Committee for Postgraduate Training in Dentistry (JCPTD) was established on 09 June 2010 to oversee and provide advice on arrangements for foundation and specialist training in dentistry across the UK and to promote consistency of approach together with robust, fit for purpose quality assurance. In June 2014 the JCPTD agreed to change and this role is now provided by the Specialty Advisory Committees (SACs) through the Advisory Board for Specialty Training in Dentistry (ABSTD), and the Advisory Board for Foundation Training in Dentistry (ABFTD) both reporting to the Joint Meeting of Dental Faculties (JMDF).
In future, the JCPTD will be a smaller, strategic committee, also reporting to JMDF. The Interim Terms of Reference and Standing Orders for the new JCPTD were agreed by the committee in December 2014.
Specialty Advisory Committees
Specialty Advisory Committees (SACs) are intercollegiate bodies which advise on higher specialist training in the dental specialties.
