Dataset of Clinical Quality Indicators
The dataset outlines the clinical outcome measures that should be routinely collected and reported on by all independent providers of cosmetic surgical procedures. It sets out each identified metric, how they will be reported and the reasons for their inclusion within the dataset.
From this high quality data collection, services will be able to:
- enable more consistent audit and quality improvement
- capture more accurate information about the demographics of patients having cosmetic surgical procedures
- monitor activity and outcomes and changes over time
- support improved patient choice and informed decision making.
The RCS will not itself collect this data. Under the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) requirements, service providers must collect and submit data to the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN), who will publish specific performance measures by procedure at both hospital and consultant level. Service providers should collect data support publication from mid 2018. It is anticipated that, over time, collection of more of these data items will be automated and thus made available for reporting via PHIN. Read more about the CMA's requirements and PHIN
