National Careers Week 2021
National Careers Week is a celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. We are taking part in this year's national campaign to inspire and inform the next generation of surgeons. Follow the RCS England Instagram account so you don't miss any of this year's campaign!
Find out more about each surgical specialty, including working conditions and competition ratios.
What makes a surgeon?
From 1–6 March, visit the RCS England Instagram every day to see videos with top tips for different career stages from medical student through consultant, from surgeons who have navigated each one. These videos will show a highlight reel of each standard career grade on the UK surgical training pathway and the dental surgery pathway.
While these videos will cover the standard pathway, there are many different ways to become a surgeon, including becoming an SAS surgeon. Visit our careers support page for more information and resources on all careers in surgery.
Ahead of the annual ASiT conference, join us on Thursday 4 March at 7pm for a special virtual evening event that aims to answer the important question 'why we do what we do'. Hear stories from surgeons with a range of experience and knowledge, and be reminded why you chose to follow this career path.
