The British Dental Association and Journal
The British Dental Association (BDA)
The BDA is the professional association of dentists in the UK. The association is a certified independent trade union and members can receive advice and information on all aspects of professional practice, as well as industrial relations support.
If you qualified overseas and are living in the UK and studying for one of the registration examinations with the GDC you can still join the BDA. You will have the benefits of Essential Membership but you will not be able to vote. This membership costs £385 per year. You will be able to use the BDA library which has access to all the latest journal, books and e learning packages. You will also be able to attend BDA lectures and meetings.
The BDA has a library, which contains books and journals. It is possible to become a temporary member if you qualified overseas and live in the UK.
The British Dental Journal (BDJ)
The BDJ is the journal published by the BDA twice a month. It contains many research papers, as well as the majority of vacant hospital, university, dental practice and salaried service posts.
If you are looking for a training or dental practitioner post, good places to look for an advertisement are the BDJ and NHS Jobs. Details of vacant posts can be found in the journal and on the BDJ website. The NHS Jobs website can be found here.
