Overseas Registration Course for LDS & ORE

Manikin Group 1

LDS/ORE courses

The Faculty of Dental Surgery of The Royal College of Surgeons deliver a suite of courses designed to help you at every stage of your preparation for the LDS/ORE registration examinations.

Listed below are the range of courses on offer but are by no means fully exhausted.

LDS/ORE part 1 course [6-days]

This intensive 6-day course is designed to prepare trainees for the theoretical knowledge required for part 1 of the LDS/ORE examinations and also includes a series of sample MCQs and EMQs relevant for this examination. This course will be delivered by experienced lecturers and clinicians in their field who possess a wealth of experience in the field of both undergraduate and postgraduate education and assessment.

20-25 January 2020: LDS/ORE part 1 course

LDS part 2 course [4-days]

This course is designed to prepare candidates for the following components contained within LDS part 2 examination including:

  • Unseen cases (UC)
  • Medical emergencies (ME)
  • Objective structured clinical reasoning exercises (OSCE)
  • Communication skills (CS)

3–6 June 2020

14–17 October 2020

4–7 November 2020

2–5 December 2020

ORE part 2 course [4-days]

This course is designed to prepare candidates for the following components contained within ORE part 2 examination including:

  • Dental treatment planning (DTP)
  • Medical emergencies (ME)
  • Objective structured clinical reasoning exercises (OSCE)
  • Communication skills (CS)

12–15 Feb 2020

4–7 March 2020

1–4 July 2020

2–5 September 2020

OSCE Mock [1 day]

This course will be delivered in the style of a mock exam and is appropriate for LDS/ORE/MJDF candidates.

The OSCEs are designed to cover all clinical aspects of the curriculum and will test; communication and clinical skills; judgement and decision making abilities; knowledge and professionalism.

The skills session in the afternoon will concentrate on providing trainees with the opportunity to further practice key skilled OSCEs under supervision.

Manikin course/mock [1-3 days]

This comprehensive practical manikin course is invaluable in aiding preparation for the manikin component contained within the LDS/ORE examination.

The course will utilise the state of the art clinical facilitates; provide candidates with the opportunity to refine their operative skills; advise candidates on the correct seated/posture position required for manikin exercises; and provide advice on health and safety/cross infection protocols.

Free information session for LDS / ORE part 2 candidates

This free information session is designed for candidates who have successfully passed LDS/ORE part 1 examination and now wish to learn more about the part 2 examination.

Candidates will be provided with up to date information by the experts on on the examination process, format, criteria checklist, a personalised pathway of study and equipped with a list of tools and resources to aid in the preparation of the part 2 examinations.

Focussed skills / revision course

Candidate feedback has prompted the FDS to host a series of small group workshops designed to target problem areas which will be delivered in a small workshop format.

This can include all aspects of the exam including communication skills, manikin, OSCEs, DTP, UC, ME or examination tips.
