COVID-19 Q&A: RCS Research Group

The COVID-19 pandemic poses unprecedented challenges for the surgical workforce and one that has raised many questions on surgical care and safety which need urgent answers. In order to meet these challenges, we have launched the RCS COVID Research Group.

This working group brings together the COVID-specific projects supported by the College, in order to share ideas, collaborate and support the research activity being carried out.

Many projects are already beginning to yield exciting results and we are delighted to share these with the wider surgical community. Join RCS President Professor Derek Alderson and Professor Peter Hutchinson, RCS Director of Clinical Research, along with research leads. We will be showcasing the fantastic progress of a number of our RCS sponsored COVID projects at our free weekly webinar on Wednesday 20 May.

Why should you tune in?

We are thrilled to be able share the preliminary progress of a number of projects including:

  • COVIDsurg projects
  • NIHR incubator projects
  • The Lotus study
  • Operation COVID
  • The PPE challenge
  • Mitigating aerosol transmission risk when treating COVID patients

Following the update there will be an opportunity to ask the panel questions and find out more about the exciting projects the RCS is supporting.

We want to ensure that we are supporting you and providing you with the most helpful information for yourself and your peers. Please get in touch with our events team with any questions or further topics you would like to be discussed during this session.

For those unable to join the livestream on Wednesday, the recording will be made available on our COVID-19 webinar page.
