Eligibility criteria announced for new Dental Specialty Fellowship Examinations

We are pleased to share that the Dental Faculty Deans of the UK’s three surgical royal colleges have recently released the eligibility criteria for the new Dental Specialty Fellowship Examinations.  

The Royal College of Surgeons of England, The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, with other stakeholders, have collaborated to streamline the wide range of dental exams in the UK. These new examinations provide flexible entry routes, supporting dentists in UK specialty training, practitioners who have trained overseas and those in postgraduate clinical programmes. 

Dental Specialty Fellowship Examinations will award successful candidates with a Fellowship in their specialty by the college with which they take their exams. This new process will expand opportunities for dentists to have their specialist competencies, expertise and background recognised, in turn, supporting their career. As part of this initiative, we have also produced exam transition guidance to assist candidates impacted by the change in the curricula and exam process.
