Our response to the Autumn Statement

In response to the Autumn Statement delivered this week by the Chancellor, the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, RCS England President, Professor Neil Mortensen said,

‘For the last two years, RCS England, alongside sector colleagues, has been calling for a fully-funded NHS workforce plan. The Chancellor’s commitment yesterday to publishing an independently verified forecast for the next 5, 10 and 15 years is extremely welcome news. Our calls have been heard.

‘This announcement, alongside  the government’s commitments to the elective recovery plan and support for social care, are essential as the NHS faces an incredibly tough winter.

‘Looking ahead, we will continue to work collaboratively with Medical Royal Colleges and the health sector to urge government to publish further details, including a timeframe for publication, and details of how the NHS workforce plan will be funded.’
