Planning permission granted for RCS redevelopment

25 Jan 2017

We're pleased to announce that the redevelopment of our home in Lincoln's Inn Fields has been approved by Westminster City Council.

The redevelopment will enable us to create a world-class training, examination and research facility, an improved member space and a flexible, more efficient working environment for the future, whilst embracing our heritage.

What happens next, and how will your services be affected?

The redevelopment will take place from summer 2017 to summer 2020. Key dates and details of the services affected both during and after the redevelopment, can be found on our Transforming Surgery for the Future pages, along with visuals of the planned redevelopment.

Please note that the Welcome Museum of Anatomy and Pathology will close on 28 February, and there will be an amended library and archives service from 24 March.

The Nuffield Hotel will close on 31 March, but we have arranged discounted hotel accommodation for members with Club Quarters on the adjacent side of Lincoln's Inn Fields. Simply mention 'Royal College of Surgeons' when booking.

The redevelopment is part of a larger project to transform the way we support the profession, our members, and achieve our goal of advancing surgical care.
