Make the most out of your membership: discover our resources available

11 Apr 2020

During this unparalleled time, although our key focus is supporting our members with COVID-19 information and resources throughout this outbreak, we would like to highlight some of our key membership benefits still available.

We have a range of resources and tools accessible to you, some of which have been adapted across new platforms, to continue to develop your knowledge and skills and get the support you need for your career, even during the most unprecedented circumstances.

Our members are at the heart of what we do; your safety and protection, as well as career development, is our utmost priority.

Build your knowledge

Access thousands of e-journals and online resources. All of our online library resources are available as normal. Our undergraduate Affiliate members can now enjoy access to Acland's video atlas of Human Anatomy for a limited time. Use the popular videos to stay on top of your studies outside the dissection lab. Follow the instructions on our webpage to take advantage

Access popular publications; the Bulletin and Annals, which are key sources of surgical and professional information. Our next issue of the May Bulletin, will be published as normal however please contact the Publishing team if you have a query or need more time to complete an article. The printed May issues of Annals, Bulletin and FDJ, will be delayed until further notice. We are working to provide those currently receiving printed copies with a full issue PDF in the meantime.

Regular e-newsletters keep you up to date with news, policy and developments in surgery. Update your preferences to ensure you are still receiving these.

We are regrettably postponing many events and activities. However we are still providing a wide range of webinar sessions every month, providing advice for members at all career stages covering queries from how to write a paper to the latest on less than full-time training. These will be provided in the same format for you to tune in anytime, anywhere. Explore all of our previous webinar topics that are available to watch online.

We have an extensive collection of online learning and educational resources available to you. We have made select educational materials from our START (Systematic Training in Acute Illness Recognition and Treatment) and CCrISP (Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient) courses publicly available. These courses teach a common algorithm for assessing unwell patients and the four videos on our learning platform show how it works in action.

The PGCert in Surgery is our unique online programme that allows you to study at your own pace over 1-2 years. You will work towards 60 credits by completing online modules to suit your career path. You will also be able to gain credits by taking selected practical RCS courses. Find out how it works
